Let’s catch the next boat up the Willamette River.

If you love boating, this is the place you want to be. In days gone by, the Willamette was a raging river.

It was a river to be feared due to the sheer force of the powerful water. For the people who lived along the willamette river and called it home, the spring would bring thaws from winter snows. This was a time when the river could rise tremendously. Although people liked to live close to the rivers for a lot of reasons, it could be very dangerous.

You should know a little about your ancestry. We might be descendants of the pioneers who settled in Willamette. If you would like to check out some of the history of this area, you will find pretty much anything you want to see. The Living Museum of Natural and Cultural History is packed full of things that will give you a glimpse into the lives of the people who came here to have a fresh start.

If history is not your thing, you can find something to do on the Willamette River. How about a sternwheeler ride? The view is wonderful. If it is not too cold the best way to see all the sights is from outside, although the dining area is abundant with windows so you will not miss anything. If you have children, this is sure to be a blast for them.

Fishing is a given. The different kinds that you can catch are what make this so much fun. From sturgeon to salmon, you are sure to catch something. The Willamette River is known for great fishing. Eating what you catch is half the fun.

For those who are not afraid to have a little fun, this can be a great way to see this area from above. It is not expensive and an after the balloon ride, brunch is included if your stomach has come back down to earth.

There are several wine tasting spots you will be sure to want to explore. The vineyards have been around for years and the experience will be one that you will not soon forget.

Round up your trip with a visit to one of the festivals that are held here every year. The cherry, apple, pear, and numerous other festivals are held every year. You will be sure to catch at least one of these fun festivals depending on when you visit the Willamette Valley.
